Here is a lesson on Writing Task 2 that I shared with my VIP students around a year ago. They loved it and was a game changer for many of them for how they thought about Task 2. One of the main problems with Writing Task 2 is that people overcomplicate it. I noticed that students would have no problem discussing these topics normally but as soon as they saw them on a test paper they would go into what I call 'test mode.' They would make things so complex that they found it nearly impossible to express their thoughts clearly. Your writing is a reflection of your thinking. In this lesson, I try to 'normalise' these questions by telling you a story from my real life. This lesson will help you with: - Idea Generation; - Idea Development; - Vocabulary and - Test Technique. You will see that when you take your thoughts out of the exam room and normalise them, everything becomes much easier. You can only write about what you know and you know way more than you think you do. I hope you enjoy the lesson and it helps you think more clearly about Task 2 questions. You can even try the task at the end of the lesson. Thanks Chris
